In honor of Sarah Lazarus, Eleanor Reissa brings us her voice, humor, and love of Yiddish for an afternoon of timeless and fresh musical treasures. A natural storyteller, she invites us on a journey where past, present, and future come together in song. She will be joined by pianist Rob Schwimmer.

Sarah Rose Lazarus was a beloved Yiddish teacher and performer whose passion for music inspired thousands of students and enriched synagogue choirs across Chicago. She especially cherished classical Yiddish song, sharing its beauty with generations. This memorial concert honors her legacy and keeps her love for Yiddish language and music alive.
Eleanor Reissa is a storyteller in English and in Yiddish - her first language. She’s a Tony Award nominee for directing, a theatre/television/screen actress, a singer, translator, choreographer, and published author. The New York Times has said that Eleanor’s work as a “leading singer of Yiddish songs” is “a tribute to her family’s resilience.” Her play THE LAST SURVIVOR, had its world premiere in Skokie’s own Northlight Theatre in the 1990’s.
