Maxwell Street Klezmer Band

Founded in 1983, Maxwell Street Klezmer Band preserves and innovates with the traditional music of Eastern European immigrants which merged with American jazz and swing of the 1920s-1930s and with the Yiddish theater to create the early American klezmer sound. Maxwell Street has played at Carnegie Hall, toured Europe, and provided the celebratory soundtrack for Chicagoland’s simchas for over four decades.Since 1983, the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band has been entertaining Chicagoland and beyond with the band's joyous and soulful spin on traditional Yiddish songs and klezmer dance music. The performance will include music from the band's soon-to-be-released sixth album.
